Kathi
Appelt writes for all ages and is the author of more than 20
award-winning books for children and young adults. Using slides and
overheads, she leads presentation for grade students, in-service
workshops for teachers, and classes for writers and parents. Picture
books: Oh My Baby, Little One, Bat Jamboree, Bats Around the
Clock, Elephants Aloft, and Cowboy Dreams. Young adult fiction: Kissing
Tennessee. Non-fiction middle grades: Down Cut Shin Creek.
Poetry, young adult: Just People.

Janet
S. Fox is a writer,
teacher, and Assistant Regional Advisor of the Brazos Valley affiliate
of SCBWI.
Janet has
been writing for as along as she can remember. She became a
children’s author in the mid-90s. Her son’s learning differences
led her to develop ideas described in her book for Free Spirit
Publishing, Get
Organized Without Losing It (pub. date 1/06).
Janet
teaches middle and high school English language skills and
literature. Her other published work for children includes fiction (Spider Magazine, 9/03) and science non-fiction (Highlights
for Children, 5/06). Current projects include several picture
books and historical middle grade fiction.
Janet
can tailor a presentation for grades 3 and up on organizational
skills or on writing; she also can present to adults. Please see her

Janet
lives with her husband, their 14-year-old son, and two dogs in
College Station, Texas.

Sherry
Garland is the award-winning author of 25 books for children and teens,
including The Lotus Seed, Voices of the Alamo, and A
Line in the Sand (a Dear America book). Her honors include Texas
Bluebonnet List, Lone Star List, Reading Rainbow, ALA Notable, BBYA, WWA
Spur Award, Texas Institute of Letters Award, and many more.
Presentations: Making a Children’s Book, Texas History, Vietnam, and
Writing Workshops.

Kathy Whitehead has
taught at the elementary level and loves watching kids connect with a good
story. She holds a Masters degree in Educational Administration from
TAMU and is a former Regional Advisor for Brazos Valley SCBWI. Her
picture book Looking for Uncle Louie on the Fourth of July
(Boyds Mills Press) is due out in Spring 2005. Look for her picture
book biography Art From Her Heart (G.P. Putnam) in the
future.
Her presentation “From
Reader to Author: Writing Across Texas” shares her road to
publication. She would be happy to tailor a presentation to fit your
group or curriculum needs.
