Kathi Appelt writes for all ages and is the author of more than 20 award-winning books for children and young adults. Using slides and overheads, she leads presentation for grade students, in-service workshops for teachers, and classes for writers and parents.

Kelly Goldman Bennett writes books for children—both fiction and non-fiction. She holds a Master’s Degree in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Recent books are DANCE Y'ALL DANCE a two-steppin', swingin' & twirlin' Dance Hall romp (Bright Sky Press, 2009) and NOT NORMAN: A GOLDFISH STORY (Candlewick Press, 2005), awarded the Texas Institute of Letters' Best Children’s Book for 2005, Children’s Choice Award, and Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Medal. Other titles include STRANGERS IN BLACK: A Young Boy’s Struggle to Survive in Khmer Rouge (Royal Fireworks Press), a young adult/reluctant reader memoire and SPIDER SPINS A STORY, Fourteen Legends from Native America (Rising Moon), both co-authored with Ronnie Davidson under the name “Jill Max."
Equally comfortable with large groups or small, Kelly has traveled throughout the United States and parts of Indonesia sharing her passion for story and writing with students ages pre-school through adult. During each lively, interactive presentation Kelly:

Janet S. Fox is a writer, teacher, and Assistant Regional Advisor (ARA) of the Brazos Valley, Texas, affiliate of SCBWI. Janet became a children’s author in the mid-90s. Her son’s learning differences led her to develop ideas described in her book for Free Spirit Publishing, Get Organized Without Losing It (2006). Her other published work for children includes fiction (Spider Magazine) and science non-fiction (Highlights for Children). Her young adult novel, Faithful (Puffin/Penguin), debuts in spring 2010, followed by a sequel in 2011. She is currently a student in the MFA/Writing for Children and Young Adults program at Vermont College of Fine Arts. Janet lives with her husband and their high-school age son in College Station, Texas.

Kathy Whitehead has taught at the elementary level, served as a Regional Advisor for Brazos Valley-SCBWI and holds a M. Ed. in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University.
